It's unusual here for snow to last as long as a week, and for it to last that long more than once a winter would be even more unusual. Since the roof insulation is R45 (the walls are R35) I'm not about to give up my metal roof for a week's worth of added insulation. Since I'm 56 I may not have to replace it in my lifetime! : )

Bag Lady, much as I want some cows, when I look at the thickness of that ice, I'm extremely grateful I didn't have to chop it off a water tank while standing on ice. (Maybe I could keep one of those rubber bath tub mats wrapped around the axe handle so it would be at hand?)solarityhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03606487180967915130noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5487713068002286095.post-5958361724629818592009-02-07T09:33:00.000-05:002009-02-07T09:33:00.000-05:00Anonymous is right...but I'm sure you aren't about...Anonymous is right...but I'm sure you aren't about to replace your roof.

I understand now why you were hesitant about taking out the garbage!

Good luck with getting the yard cleaned up at your dad's house.the Bag Ladyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17434610508260994331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5487713068002286095.post-87749582061218931042009-02-07T08:33:00.000-05:002009-02-07T08:33:00.000-05:00You have the wrong roofing material for a solar ho...You have the wrong roofing material for a solar house. Snow slides off a metal roof causing your problem. You need an asphalt roof shingle that holds the snow, holding the snow and providing you with extra insulation on your roofAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
