sign

I went for a drive to take pictures of things I've seen when I didn't have time to stop, and also didn't have the camera with me. I didn't get as much photographed as I intended, because people talked to me a lot.

I've never been inside this little store/restaurant, but I had noticed this sign the last time I drove past.

They were closed that late in the afternoon, but one of the owners came out and spoke to me, and told me they put the sign up because one man would come on a horse, and leave it right in front of the door, causing a manure problem.

I was delighted with the color of these chrysanthemums against the white paint. They look as though they have benefited from the manure.

  1. There's a Mennonite community less than an hour's drive from my home where the supermarkets have both car parking lots and a horse/buggy lot. It's like stepping back in time.

  2. Love the sign! In our town, they ban horses from being able to ride into town. I'm not sure if it's because they would be a traffic problem, or, as you say, they leave their presents behind. He!

  3. Redbush, you could ride through this town at a walk in less than ten minutes. My post office is there, and two churches, and this store, and the fire station, and some houses. I don't think the horses would be more of a traffic problem in town than on the roads out of town. (This isn't where I go when I say I'm going to "town." There I can go to the grocery and the bank and buy gas.)
