snake indoors

Look what  I found about three feet from the front door one of the many times I walked from the kitchen to the living room and back during supper. He wasn’t very big; I persuaded him onto a magazine and tossed him out the door. Avoiding hibernation is bad for your health!

  1. Yikes! I am not sure whether I would have shrieked and stood on a chair until I could plot a path to a phone to call for rescue, or if I would have been fascinated enough to deal with it on my own. Probably the furniture walking. Snakes are not common here and although I have finally learned how to deal with spiders on my own, snakes... I dunno.

  2. What has me spooked is not having the faintest idea how this particular snake got inside. Will it happen again? Only the Shadow knows.

Snakes are fairly common here, and this is the second one I've seen in the three years I've lived in this house. (The first one was in the parking area.)

  3. I would have been freaked out big time. There's no way that I would be able to coax him into a magazine for fear that he would end up landing on me!

  4. EEEEKKK!!! What kind of snake is that? We have garter snakes here, but don't see them very often, thank heavens. I am not at all sure I would have been able to deal with that in a calm fashion.

  5. It is almost certainly a teenaged, risk-taking snake.
