pale violets

This afternoon I stopped in the middle of mowing the front yard to pick some of these violets before I cut their heads off. The purple ones are thick everywhere, but these have just opened in the last day or two.
Can you see their little purple veins?

    I have been absent from the blogosphere, but I see that it was probably just as well because this post would merely have served to remind me how long it has taken for spring to arrive here!
